The Manuka Witch

Originally looking for a way to spruce up my own wardrobe with things that bring me joy. I find myself having such fun, that I decided to share the joy.

The name of my store, Manuka Majo, comes from two ideas.

The first, is that whenever I have thought about how I would define my own sense of style, I tend to say “Light Witch. You know, witchy vibes, but lighter colours.”

The second is an attempt to reconcile my dual upbringing between Japan and New Zealand.

The Manuka is a tree native to New Zealand with pretty white/pinky flowers, and is most well known today for the superb honey that bees can make from them. However, historically, every single bit of the Manuka tree has been utilised for various medicinal and practical purposes. It is also very hardy, and is a good cover tree for reforestation. Very appropriately witchy, I thought.

魔女 (Mah-Jyo) meanwhile, means Witch in Japanese.
